| It just boots and boots and boots again |

Laptop at work decided not to boot few days ago. It starts, makes the sound, goes to Sharp splash screen, then the Windows XP logo appears as if Windows was booting...but then it's back to Sharp screen....and Windows XP logo screen...and Sharp screen.....and Windows XP logo screen......on and on.
I really need one file from this computer, how can I get at it? I tried hooking it with USB cable to another computer, but the other computer doesn't see it, since it doesn't boot, I guess.

| windows vista activator |

I recently bought a lap top off of a friend with windows vista but lost the activator key. There are vista activators you can dl on the internet and use to activate you windows. I have not found one to activate my lap top but have found one that work on my desktop. Any suggestions to an activator that would work?
Im not sure which service pack/version of vista i have, how can i check that as well?

| Start up problems - black screen |

I hope someone can help!
My daughter downloaded something (no idea what  ) she said when she clicked on it and extracted it music started playing, she closed all programs down but it carried on so restarted it to stop it.
On restarting there is just a black screen although the windows Explorer box opens automatically and files can be opened through this.
There is no desktop though so cannot get to system restore as there is no start menu.
I have tried to start in safe mode but get the same black screen with no desktop, have also tried to start using last known good configuration but still the black screen
the operating system is Vista
Anyone have any ideas what is wrong?
