| Fusionman flies with jet powered wings |
Posted by littlek on May, 16. :: 1 Comment
He had to jump from a plane and parachute to Earth, but man is this cool!
| Quote: |
Playing to a mesmerized audience, Swiss pilot and adventurer (some might say nutcase) Yves Rossy has soared above the Alps with homemade jet-powered wings strapped to his back.
Rossy, an extreme sports guy who has spent years assembling his wings, casually stepped out of an airplane at 7,500 feet, unfolded the wings and quickly passed from free fall to mellow glide. He then fired up the wings' engines and accelerated to more than 180 mph.
As if that weren't cool enough, Rossy showed off a bit, making a few dives, some figure eights and a 360-degree barrel roll before landing at an airfield near Lake Geneva. |

Posted by lewuk2008 on May, 15. :: 0 Comments
I CANT FIGURE THIS OUT PLEASE HELP AND POST BACK
A SLIDER/CRANK MECHANISM IS DRIVEN BY A FLAT BELT PULLEY SYSTEM. THE LARGER DRIVER PULLEY ROTATES AT 5 REVS/SEC, AND IS 200MM DIAMETER, THE SMALLER PULLEY IS 150MM DIAMETER. THE PULLEY CENTRES ARE 600MM PART AND THE COEFFICIENT OF FRICTION BETWEEN THE TWO PULLEYS IS 0.25. THE MAXIMUM TENSION IN THE PULLEYS IS LIMITED TO 1 KN DETERMINE:
a) the velocity ration of the system
b) the angle of the lap between the pulleys and the belt.
c)the maximum power that can be trasmitted by the system before the slipping occurs.
d)other types of belt that are availabel and their merits compared with the flat belt.
e)another power transmission method that could be used in this situation and its merits compared with the pulley system
please help me please

BEX, Switzerland - Some people go fishing on their day off. Yves Rossy likes to jump out of a small plane with a pair of jet-powered wings and perform figure eights above the Swiss Alps.
Rossy, 48, made his first public flight with his self-made flying contraption in front of the world press Wednesday, after five years of training and many more years of dreaming.

Context:
Results For the 23,316 participants with blinded data, we calculated adjusted odds ratios for adverse pregnancy outcomes associated with an increase in the fasting plasma glucose level of 1 SD (6.9 mg per deciliter [0.4 mmol per liter]), an increase in the 1-hour plasma glucose level of 1 SD (30.9 mg per deciliter [1.7 mmol per liter]), and an increase in the 2-hour plasma glucose level of 1 SD (23.5 mg per deciliter [1.3 mmol per liter]).
