A manual input by the user must be one of the most sure ways, at least for the user.

Vaporware refers to software or coding that is heralded but afterward no code or product ever shows up.

For now any DST solution is vaporware. I haven't written a line of code for it yet.

You are preaching to a calendrical programmer.

By the way, it sometimes causes an error when you think that GMT=UTC holds always. On some computer boxes, GMT has a DST adustment while UTC does not.
This is the reason why my system time is set to Africa/Freetown (GMT without DST).

Errrm....posts are now showing as for Saturday 14 June, shortly after 00:50 on my screen.

I'm on GMT+1, so I've lost 32 hours somewhere - and I'm still at work when I should be staggering home from a Friday night out.

What's going on?

Regarding time zones...
If anyone comes to Arizona, remember that we don't change our clocks for Daylight savings, unlike practically every other state/etc.

So our actual GMT setting (rather, number) will change

I believe that's true of the U.S. state of Indiana, too.
