How can I become an Actress?

I really want to become an actress. I went to this one agency and it turned out that it was all bogus and all they wanted was my money and in return you get fake auditions and classes. Embarrassed Does anyone know if there is good place I can go to get an agent or a non-bogus agency of some sort?
