I am following Reyn's lead. I just got a new digi camera and, while it is no amazing model, I still am taking a lot of images.

So, instead of filling up the wrong threads with the wrong pix, I'll post some of them here......

So far, most of my photos have been of my niece and nephew and my animals. But, today I went to Forest Hills Cemetery and shot 70-something pictures there.

A link to a Forest Hills Cemetery history page http://www.foresthillstrust.org/about_fhc/history.html

This image is just creepy. Look closely at the bark of the bit of tree trying to incorporate the headstone..... The raised lettering can be seen through the tree's wood.

Thanks, Stray..... To tell the truth, I didn't even notice the lettering when I took the pic. I was more interested in the way that tree was absorbing the surrounding headstones.

That is a VERY cool photo, lil'k.

Have you ever thought of doing something with your photography? You have quite an eye for it. I'm always impressed by your shots, and I hope you'll consider doing more with the photos than just posting them on A2K.

You should be making some money from this. Seriously.

Eva, I need a better camera, to make money with this. Though, some of the prints for sale, that I've seen, are pretty crappy.

I have a habit of seeing phalus' in nature....

There are mausloeums there which have stained glass panels in them. When you look through the grating of the door, you can see these panels lit from behind by sunlight. Many have metal grates mounted outside to protect them.

Forest Hills has sponsered a series of fresh-air art shows. Here's one piece made from pine needles

I really like the first one, k. Interesting composition & the contrasting textures of the tree trunk & the leaves. And it's a bit mysterious, too: makes me want to know what the whole word is on the headstone! I also like the grainy shot of the reflection on the granite. It has a nice "feel" to it.

More accolades for tree/ tombstone, something profound there about man + nature + death...

Yeppers.

Thanks all.

I often shoot scenes where man and nature collide - usually where nature is winning. A young shoot coming up through the crack in pavement, for example. I adore trees, so they are oft photo'd by me.

Beech trees are especially photogenic because of their smooth almost lusterous bark, fine twigs in contast to thick trunks, and russet leaves.

I looked at that headstone picture again and those are oak leaves! Blown in from a nearby oak tree. Funny. They work anyway.

MsOlga, the stone just says WALT.

I went hiking in the Middlesex Fells today (in February!). As I have been trying to work on the whole concept of macro-photography (why is macro the photography of micro things?) most of the pix are of teeny tiny things.

Wow! Littlek - these are fabulous!

I love the tree/tombstone one too but I'd have a hard time picking a favorite.

The tombstone pic has a lot to say....I like the last one too, something soothing about ferns, peaceful.

The use of the word Macro is odd...I think they mean you are taking something small and making it large..."blowing it up".
